If this is the first time you've received a Duty and VAT invoice from us then you may have some questions that you'd like answering before you pay it.

We hope that by reading the most frequently asked questions everything will become clear, but if you have any other questions, we'll be happy to help.

As a fixed custom duty - the percentage will be 5% on shipment declared value. Please note, it also depends on the HS code and the percentage may vary from case to case basis.

Advance Payment Fee also referred as Admin Fee is charged because DHL uses its funds on behalf of customer and pays duties to customs and clear the shipment on time. A nominal fee is charged as mentioned below:

  1. If the custom duty amount is above USD 50 and below USD 100 = USD 15/- is charged
  2. If the custom duty amount is above USD 100 and below USD 1000 = USD 25/- is charged
  3. if the custom duty amount is above USD 1000 = USD 150/- is charged

The customs will keep the shipment in their cargo area free of charge for first four days from the date of arrival in the country. For any additional days, the customs will apply demurrage charge = 0.25 cents/per kg.

If BULK shipment comes under DHL name with one consolidated master airwaybill, DHL will clear the shipment as normal except any prohibited items or items requiring special approval by the government.

Custom Duties are most typically not included in the price of goods you purchased online. You are liable to pay any inbound custom duties which your local customs authority deems appropriate. Internet and catalogue retailers usually include advice regarding the likelihood of import Duty in their shipping information pages. Please check the retailer’s shipping notes, terms and conditions of your purchase, or contact the retailer.

If you send your shipment under separate master airwaybill in customer name, then those shipments will be cleared by customer themselves. In that case depending upon the BN or BR checkpoint scenario, USD 25/- will be charged.

If your shipment arrives in Iraq and if you decide not to accept it, we can either RTO or Destroy the shipment based on communication with Origin and follow our internal procedures.

You can pay your invoice via the following options:

  1. You may pay online using the link you received in our SMS or email. This is the best and fastest method of payment.
  2. Or you may pay at a DHL Service Point when you visit and collect your shipment.
  3. Or you may pay at a DHL Service Point when you visit and collect your shipment.

Or you may pay by cash when the courier delivers your shipment at your doorstep.
